Douglas Seidler pursued his Masters in Architecture (MARCH) at the University of Florida. While at the University, he studied at the Vicenza Institute of Architecture (Vicenza, Italy) and the Preservation Institute: Nantucket (Nantucket, MA). Graduating at the top of his class, Seidler was awarded the AIA Henry Adams Medal.
Professor Seidler is currently an Assistant Professor of Interior Design at the New England School of Art & Design at Suffolk University. Professor Seidler is also Lead Faculty of Foundation Studios at the Boston Architectural College. While pursuing his graduate degree, he taught architecture at the University of Florida and the Preservation Institute: Nantucket. He teaches an expansive curriculum of graduate and undergraduate design studios, including Foundation Studio, Materials and Methods Studio, Furniture Design, Senior Studio, Computer Drafting, Construction Documents, Design Communication, and Thesis Documentation.
Digital Drawing for Designers: A Visual Guide to AutoCAD, Seidler's first book, is published by Fairchild Books. His academic studies focus on the application of pedagogical research in design education.
With over 12 years of professional experience, Professor Seidler lead numerous design projects with The Scott Partnership in Orlando, FL, Morris Architects in Orlando, FL, and Ellenzweig Associates in Cambridge, MA. During this time, Seidler worked on projects for the Hard Rock Café, Orlando and the Portofino Bay Hotel, Orlando. He is an associate member of the AIA / BSA.
Douglas Seidler lives in Cambridge, MA with his wife Patricia.
